Learn About the Greenpoint Monitor Museum

Saturday, July 16th, 11:00am to 6:00pm
Bushwick Inlet, 56 Quay Street (at West Street)

Join your friends and neighbors to learn about the past, present, and future of the Greenpoint Monitor Museum at the Waterfront Alliance City of Water Day “In Your Neighborhood” event at Bushwick Inlet – where the USS Monitor was launched.

At the event, you can: Learn about the Greenpoint Community Environmental Fund (GCEF) grant recently awarded to the Museum to develop an ecological design for a restored living shoreline at the proposed Museum site. View the USS Monitor National Marine Sanctuary’s recently unveiled USS Monitor Trail Marker. Learn about the work of the NOAA’s National Marine Sanctuary System. Hear about USS Monitor designer John Ericsson and his work with steam and solar energy. See Civil War artifacts and solar energy at work on a solar cooker while listening to Civil War music.

This exciting event is free and open to the public. For information about this event or the GCEF-funded Greenpoint Monitor Museum USS Monitor Park project contact Janice Lauletta-Weinmann at jlauletta@aol.com.

The Greenpoint Monitor Museum USS Monitor Park project is made possible with funding provided by the New York State Office of the Attorney General and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation through the Greenpoint Community Environmental Fund.
