Nature Walk with Arborist John Kilcullen, Nov 11th

John Kilcullen, passionate tree-lover, NYC Parks Arborist, and Director of Conference House Park led a vibrant Nature Walk through McGolrick to observe and discuss what makes our park’s trees so special.

The walk was made possible thanks to the support of the City Parks Foundation and Partnerships for Parks through the NYC Green Fund.

“As an educator and arborist, I'm always excited to share my love and the importance of trees in our urban environment. As a guest naturalist for one of the first Friends of McGolrick Park nature walks, I was delighted to see how many folks came out to learn more about their local parks trees, and urban forest. The love of their trees was so palatable and each question asked of me showed [me that] Brooklyn Greenpointers really LOVE their trees! As a self-proclaimed Tree Geek, the time flew and I could have spent about two hours chatting trees. On my way home, I was contented and very happy that a few dozen more people knew a little more about trees and they in turn can excite others in the neighborhood with the wonderfulness of trees!”

Many thanks to John for joining us, answering our many questions, and teaching us all about the beautiful and varied trees we have right here in McGolrick! To learn more about McGolrick's trees, check out our resources.
