Nature Walk, Forest Bathing, June 23rd 2024

Neighbors took some time to reconnect with nature during a calm, early morning session of Forest Bathing in McGolrick. Led by local resident Bea Wollert, who is certified in Forest Bathing, the participants met by one of our native plant gardens to begin their morning activities.

Forest Bathing is a wellness practice that originated in Japan in the 1980’s. In Japan, it is known as shirin yoku. Shirin in Japanese means “forest” and yoku means “bath”, so forest bathing is bathing in the environment of a forest or taking in the forest through your senses. It is an immersive self care practice that seeks to enhance health holistically through connecting with nature through our senses and nature based activities.

Bea led the group through activities designed to connect participants to their senses, nature based connection activities, walking, art making and journaling.
